Does the Acer Aspire V3-771G-9441 have an open HD bay or do you have to remove the optical?

I would like to add an SSD and be able to keep the 1TB and optical drive as well. 

 

Also, what 8gb ram speed/brand would be appropriate to add to the already installed 4gb sodimm?

    Yes, It does, once you take all the screws out of the bottom to access the drive, there is another sata bay. It does not have the bracket in it like the one the 1 tb drive has, but most ssd aren't that heavy. To counter a packing peanut does good or something like that to keep ssd snug since it will never heat up enough to burn anything.
