Aspire ES 772G charging issues

Any ideas on this please?  My laptop has stopped charging correctly.  It only sometimes seems to notice that I have plugged into the mains to charge.  Tried different sockets etc to make sure that it is not an issue with mains power in the house - it is not.  Plugging in sometimes (occasionally) leads to sensing power and charging battery but most times it does not.  Only started recently and I had not made any change to firmware or drivers on laptop.  Any suggestions on why this might be and how to fix would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Update the BIOS to latest version if you haven't already done so. Even though it will be quite hard in your case but make sure that the battery is fully charged before updating and laptop connected to charger even if it is not charging.

Try battery reset. Stick a paper clip in the battery reset pinhole(if the battery is removable just remove it from the device). The laptop should not be connected to charger. After resetting/removing the battery leave the laptop for 10 minutes and then put the battery back in the laptop(if it is removable). Then press the power button continuously for 30 seconds.

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

Thanks for the suggestions.  Battery reset did not seem to change anything re the problem but BIOS update to latest V15 edition seemed to have done the trick.

    Suggestion mush appreciated.

Sory to say but having used the laptop for a while and then plugged in to charge the charger was not detected once more.  Bizarley, changing to yet another power outlet / socket the PC is once more charging.  I am now wondering if this is a charger fault or even a power supplu unit within the laptop at fault.

    Any further thoughts out there?

If not then I might start with the charger and see what that does.

    Regards

Could it be possible that the plug itself is not making a good contact? Have you tried to wiggle the plug a bit and see if it makes a contact?

I have tried to wiggle the plus - main 3 pin, at the connection with the power block and at the laptop end.  ALl to no avail.  Have tried 4 different power sockets as well.  Seems to work occasionally - hence me maintaining power thus far - but seems random when it works and when it does not.  Going to be a pai9n to diagnose as no doubt if I took it to an ACER repair shop it would work first time.  Hence wondering it it is worth replacing the power adaptor as a next step.

As an example, everything worked fine 5 minutes ago.  Turned socket off, left everything plugged in (but pc running) for 5 minutes then turned socket switch back on; laptop did not recognise there was any mains power coming to it.  Truly random.

Having purchased a replacement charger (not ACER OEM) this seems to have fixed the problem, fingers crossed it will not return in the coming days.  Whilst there were no obvious problems with the original charger there was most likely an internal issue with it.
