Hi,

I've just purchased the above laptop, but the resolution can't be changed beyond 1366 x 768 in any of the control panels, i.e. Win 10 display properties, Intel HD control panel or NVIDIA control panel. I've done internet searches and searches on this forum, but haven't come up with an answer yet - can someone help with this please?

it's a brand new build of Win 10 after changing the HDD over to an SSD.

Thanks

    Your resolution - 1366 x 768. This the maximum resolution for this display. 1366 is the number of pixels horizontally and 768 is the number of pixels vertically. Windows won't let you change the resolution as there is no point of doing so. If you can manage somehow to change the resolution even to 4k the image you see will still look like 1366x768, because you are looking at less pixels. It is hardware limitation.
    Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

    Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

    FYI .... Within the F5-573G series there are various sub-models with diff. specs depending on where/what region of the world you acquired your model.

    For that reason and for possible specific assistance,  share your full model number.

    Suggest you review to confirm your exact sub-model screen does actually recognize/allow change beyond 1366...!?

    That said most seem to be allowable to 1920....

    Ahhh compliments of google.ca,  here is a (world>regional>?) tech review that states LCD 1366 x ....;

    http://indianexpress.com/article/technology/tech-reviews/acer-f5-573g-laptop-review-specifications-features-price-india-4401460/    !!

    Also from Acer, specifics on a sub-model;

    https://www.acer.com/ac/en/AU/content/model/NX.GFGSA.013

    For other items (yourself or lurkers),  here is the Acer online manual for the (F15-)F5.... series;

    https://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Document/User%20Manual%20W10/User%20Manual%20W10_Acer_1.0_A_A.pdf?acerid=636348359861836277&Step1=NOTEBOOK&Step2=ASPIRE&Step3=ASPIRE%20F5-573G&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=ACER&SC=PA_4#_ga=2.96280540.1934094.1502597470-1803415843.1501299687

    You are aware that within acer corp. mind-set,  you likely voided your warranty swapping out the HDD for a SSD    previous to end of warranty timeline  ?!

    GoodLuck

    Hi, thanks for the response! The version is "Aspire F15 F5-573G-5919" and just realised that looks like the best resolution there is... Is there a software update that can allow a higher resolution???

    "....Is there a software update that can allow a higher resolution?..."

    IMHO --- no there is not, as this is a 'mechanical/hardware restraint'  issue.

    Of course there is software, to adjust the resolution of digital entities (photos, etc.)

    Good Luck,

    Thanks for the reply - yes, it's looking like a hardware restriction, but I'll keep trying with the driver/software idea...

    Thanks for the reply - some buyers remorse on my part as I didn't check the resolution limitations before I bought it, given the specs and screen size. My mistake.....

    Logically you can, but the question would be why? Simply look for a monitor upgrade in your budget and seek if your GPU can support that. At the EOD, it all comes to the refresh rate.
    BElieve in YOUrself.
