I TURN ON MY LAPTOP BUT SCREEN DOES NOT COME ON EVERYTHING WORKS OK ATTACHED TO A SPARE SCREEN THRU VGA AND HDMI ANYBODY ANY IDEAS BACKLIGHT SEEMS TO BE WORKING BUT NO DISPLAY

    Well that might change things a little. It's possible the connector at the screen needs to be re-seated again a few times to clean the contacts. Then re-tape so it doesn't work loose. Scotch tape is fine. For good measure, you really oughta re-seat the connector at the other end of the ribbon on the mainboard. This is a bit more difficult to get at. Google "5750g" "disassembly" with the quotes for videos on what you'd be up against. I'd first try to re-seat the connector at the screen to see what happens. Jack E/NJ

    One or more conductor trace lines have cracked on the video ribbon cable usually inside the hinge area from the wear & tear of opening/closing the lid. A new replacement 5750G video cable is less than $20 with free shipping from Amazon or Ebay. Jack E/NJ

    'that's what i thought but i took it in to a repair guy and he said that was not the problem but he did not know what he was. is it hard to fit a cable being a complete ***** with computers. this all started when i broke my screen and replaced it
