Hi guys.
I have an Acer Aspire 4937g that has a busted battery. I tried to turn it on without battery but to no good. Is there a way to power on my laptop without a battery and just the power adapter in it?

As of now I can't afford it yet because of stuff that needs to be paid when you ordered online here in the philippines. So is there a work around with this one?

Battery is not charging and I was thinking if I could use the laptop WITHOUT the battery. I've tried plugging the loptop without the battery but it wont even turn on. I've tried plugging it with the battery and it turs on for a few minutes and shuts down.

    >>>craps that needs to be paid >>>

I see 2 on ebay.ph right now with free shipping from USA for ~1000 php. How much more needs to be paid on these?

That particular battery is commonly used by many different laptops & mfrs. I found this list of battery part numbers that are claimed to be compatible. Maybe you can try to search for them from a vendor there.

If your 4937G starts OK plugged in with the battery, there is NOTHING WRONG with your machine. What ***OTHER*** problem are you having that you think updating the BIOS firmware will fix? Jack E/NJ

I'm trying to dual boot window 10 and chrome os but it need me to change inside the bios legacy to UEFI in order to install chrome os. I found out there's no such setting in the current bios so I'm thinking of flashing the bios to get the setting.

Your legacy BIOS chip ***hardware*** does NOT support UEFI firmware! If you try to install UEFI firmware on legacy BIOS hardware,  you may brick and totally disable your machine.

Your legacy BIOS chip hardware already supports normal dual booting. Anything else that relies on or requires having UEFI hardware is NOT supported by your machine.

As for the Chrome OS itself, google "chrome os" "dual boot" "windows 10" "legacy BIOS" with the quotes for ways around limitations imposed by your particular hardware.
