Acer Predator 15 screen has permanent lines after crashing.

It's not the drivers, it's the GPU, I have seen this before, a new motherboard will be needed.

It may be a hardware failure, but before you contact Acer (or other repair if out of warranty) I would suggest:
1) Clean reinstalling your Nvidia driver
2) run SFC to check your windows installation (search -> cmd, run as administrator -> type "sfc /scannow" without the quotations. Let it run, see if it comes up with any errors, if it does, let it try to fix it)

No errors came up, so can we assume that it is a hardware failure and do you know what the outcome of this is gonna be? Like best case and worst case?0

Are you still under warranty?
If it's the GPU that's borked, they most likely will have to replace the motherboard since both the CPU and GPU are soldered on. I'm not sure how much that would cost out-of-pocket without warranty but probably something in the ballpark of $400+.Acer turnaround time seems to be anywhere from a couple of weeks to a month depending on the issue. Edit: This is assuming you would have to mail it in to the only US repair center, which is in Texas. There are some Acer authorized repair shops out there, I know Microcenter does Acer warranty repairs (and is certified to do repairs for Acer and other brands in general). YMMV.

Can you post a picture of the lines? Definitely sounds like your GPU is toast. Call Acer if you're still under warranty

Definitely looks like GPU artifacts, have you uninstalled and reinstalled your NVIDIA driver? I would download the driver from Acers website and try that one if you haven't.
