Acer V3-571G with Windows 7 and ubuntu

I have just been bought for me an Acer V3-571G. It came pre-loaded with windows 8. I need to use windows 7 so I have installed Windows 7 home premium 64 bit. I would now like to also install Ubuntu 12.10 but it is unable to see any partitions on the disk when attempting to install. I checked for a bios update to see if it would fix the problem and the acer website suggests that version 1.14 is the latest windows 7 bios. I currently have 2.07. Downgrading the bios fails.

So, my question is, Is the bios version causing my problem, should I be using 1.14 for windows 7? If so, how do I doengrade? If not then does anyone know the cause and solution for this problem?

Many Thanks.

Regards,

Ade

I managed to solve this issue. The drive was partitioned using GPT. I booted into linux with a live disk and used gdisk to convert the gpt partiton to mbr. then I could used fdisk to access the disk. After installing windows 7 on the mbr partitioned disk, ubuntu could see the partitons correctly.
