I just bought a new Model: M5-481PT-6644 from best buy. Upon the first boot it doesn't have any wifi. Thinking it was a silly thing and I just needed to hit the wifi button on the keyboard, I tried and it then went into airplane mode. Thinking that was odd I hit it again and nothing still no wifi. Digging deeper in the device manager I had found that there was no driver installed for the wifi.

What's the deal Acer is this pc defective or do you expect me to download the drivers and trouble shoot things like this myself? I find this completely unacceptable for a brand new pc.

Do you see the WLAN device in Device Manager?

I would recommend a factory restore on the unit first.  It should have all hardware installed without issues.

I did do a factory restore before I returned it and it still had no wifi and the driver was still missing in the device manager. I even downloaded the driver and installed it. It did not take so I'm guessing the wifi is defective.

So you've already returned the system?

Yes I returned it the other day as I believed it to be defective. The geek squad confirmed my conclusion.
