Hello,

I am about the purchase a G5-793 (it doesn't say the exact code, might be 70EL), but they say it only has a 512 SSD, they supply the following regarding storage:

Solid State DiskYes
Capacity SSD512 GB
M.2 SlotYes

My questions are:

- Does it support a second SDD/HDD?

- What kind does it support? SSD or HDD?

- Does it have to be M.2-based? Can you give me an online example of a supported 1TB HDD?

- SATA III or?

Hope someone can deal with my n00b questions Smiley Happy Thanks!

I bought the same laptop with an almost identical configuration (from Altex - difference being that mine has a 256GB SSD and was 5500RON).

Anyway, you can add an HDD/SSD in the additional bay that's available under the quick access cover. You can also add RAM from there.

The G5-793 has only one M.2 slot and one 2,5-inch bay. You can whatever kind of storage you want in that 2,5 inch bay, but bear in mind that you'll have to buy separately the connector and sleeve for the HDD. Which came to 189RON when ordering them from Samabit.

Also: I have yet to find a way to use the sealed ODD bay with a converter. Don't get your hopes up for that, I've read somewhere that you'd have to replace the entire bottom cover with one for the G9, which is pretty ridiculous.

pcgarage will actually take care of adding the RAM and the second HDD, so I will leave it up to them to find the required connectors etc Smiley Happy

Can you please elaborate what you meant in your last mention about the sealed ODD bay? Not entirely familiar with the terminology
