I have an Aspire M3910 with an i3 CPU 550 @3.20 GHz with 6 gigs of SDram.

I want to upgrade to a bigger CPU but not sure how large it can be upgraded to.

I also would like to max out my memory to the highest possible on the motherboard.

My first 10 numbers of my serial # is PTSDX02086.

Thank you for any help you can give me

About the processor, here are the original ones:

    KC.54001.CI3CPU.CI3-540.3.06G/4M/1333/C2
    KC.55001.CI3CPU.CI3-550.3.2G/4M/1333/K0 (yours)
    KC.65001.CI5CPU.CI5-650.3.2G/4M/1333/C2
    KC.66101.CI5CPU.CI5-661.3.33G/4M/1333/C2
    KC.67001.CI5CPU.CI5-670.3.46G/4M/1333/C2
    KC.69501.DEGCPU.P-DUO.G6950.2.8G/3M/1066.C2
    KC.69501.DEKCPU.P-DUO.G6950.2.8G/3M/1066.K0
    KC.75001.CI5CPU.CI5-750.2.66G/8M/1333/B1
    KC.86001.CI7CPU.CI7-860.2.80G/8M/1333/C0
    KC.87001.CI7CPU.CI7-870.2.93G/8M/1333/C0
    KC.K6501.CI5CPU.CI5-650.3.2G/4M/1333/K0

All these processors are compatible with your motherboard and you'll be able to use the original heatsink again.

Q: I also would like to max out my memory to the highest possible on the motherboard.

A: Sorry  but I don't understand. Are you talking about frequency (MHz) or maximum amount?

The mother board has 6 gigs of DDR3. There are 4 memory slots and I was hoping to remove the three 2 gig modules (6 gigs total) and put the biggest DDR3 modules in the four memory slots that is possible.

    Thank you for your help!

Okay so the maximum memory amount. Your desktop supports up to 16Gb - DDR3 - 1333MHz (4x4Gb).
