Hi there.

I have an Acer TC-780. Yesterday I turned off my pc with the option "install updates and turn off the computer".

Today when I turned on my pc, I got the following message: "Press DEL to enter Bios Setup menu, Press F12 to display Boot menu.

When I press F12, I get the following message: "Reboot and select proper boot device, or Insert Boot Media in selected device and press a key". And I cannot go any further.

When I press Delete, I can still get into the Bios menu, but I don,t know how I can start up from this Bios menu…

How can I start up my pc?

if you enter BIOS, is your HDD/SSD listed on main tab?

under Boot tab, what's the first bootable device?

    (windows boot manager?)

On the main tab I see info about:

    System BIOS

    EC Firmware

    Processor

    Memory

    Product Name

    System serial number

    Base board serial number

    Asset Tag number

    System Date

    System Time

    So nothing about HDD/SSD.

Under the Boot tab, the 1st Boot Device is "Hard Disk". No mentioning of "windows boot manager" under this tab, or under any other tab.

Now that you mentioned the SSD...

I suppose Windows is on the SSD and my pc tries to start up from the HDD.

Could this be the problem? And how do I change this? The SSD is not mentioned in the BIOS.

check on BIOS under Advanced-integrated peripherals

if SSD or HDD is listed

check also under Boot options if LaunchCSM is set to never or not

which windows OS version is installed on your TC-780?

    Under Advanced Integrated... I see:

    SATA Port 0: Not installed

    SATA Port 2: Hard Disk...

    SATA Port 3: Not installed

    SATA Port 4: Not installed

    SATA Port 5: Optical Disk

and some other stuff, but nothing on an SSD

Launch CSM is set to "Never"

    My OS is Windows10.

if you are 100% sure your PC has a SSD too...it's completly missing, can be a bad SATA cable or a faulty SSD.

add that the first bootable device (under windows 10) normally is Windows Boot manager.

"add that the first bootable device (under windows 10) normally is Windows Boot manager."

Do you mean there is (also) a problem with my Windows 10?

This would make more sense than a hardware problem (cable or SSD) because the problem arose after a software update.

if you press Alt+F10 keys at boot, are you able to reach windows 10 recovery menu?

honestly i would open your PC case and check about the SSD and SATA cable.

No, Alt+F10 doesn't get me anywhere.

Thanks for you suggestion to open the pc and check the cable, but this would be like asking a monkey to repair a watch :0

My desktop is only a few months old so I will try to get it fixed under the warranty.

    Thanks for you help.
