My laptop is Aspire 4752G.

recently I changed my operating system to Archlinux, and after that I cannot hard unblock wifi with Fn+F3. So I wanted to enable WLAN in BIOS. But I cannot enter BIOS with pressing F2, either. However I can enter boot menu with F12.

I have already read previous threads stating that they cannot toggle Fn+F3 or they cannot enter BIOS in Acer Aspire series. Some suggest updating BIOS, but when I go to acer BIOS updates, there are updates only for windows operation system. All other solutions just didn't work. What should I do?

I am a newbie to all of these stuffs...so frustrated with the wifi issue...I will be very apprciated if anyone could give me some suggestions.... maybe save some money for a Mac computer...lol

p.s. I've already tried "blacklist wmi" to do something to the linux kernel. But that produces some other problems with netctl.

I have 2 questions. (1) Will Windows still start from the F12 boot mgr? (2) Do you still get the ACER logo screen on a cold boot? If yes, what happens when you immediately start tapping the F2 key upon pressing the power button before the logo screen appears.  Jack E/NJ

    1. I don't have windows in my laptop. Arch Linux is the only OS.
    2. Cold reboot still doesn't work...

OK, so does this means the boot mgr is not the original and only shows Linux options? And did you wipe the disk, including the hidden recovery partition, to install Linux? Jack E/NJ

yes, the boot manager is GRUB (Arch linux) and the recovery patition is wiped out when installing linux

Did you deliberately allow the installer wipe the hidden recovery partition? It should've been an installer option to do so. If you did allow the installer to delete it, did you make a recovery stick just in case the installation went haywire? Jack E/NJ
