Hello,

I have had my predator 17 for a few months now and it's been performing amazingly, with no problems. However, yesterday I tried to turn on my laptop on (without the AC adapter) and it wouldnt work. It works fine with the AC adapter plugged in, but not when I try to use the battery on its own. My battery charge indicator shows my battery is charged at 100% constantly, but as soon as I remove the adapter the laptop turns off. I know for a fact that my battery is not broken or anything, as its still relatively new and tests using 3rd party software indicate that my battery health is good.

I've had a similar problem before, where I disconnected the battery while removing dust from the inside of the laptop. As soon as I reconnected the abttery and tried to use my laptop, it would show that my battery is connected but not charging. All I had to do to fix this was resetting the power by disconnecting the power adapter and battery and holding the power button down for 30 secs, before reconnecting everything. This worked fine, but now I don't know what to do. I inspected the motherboard, battery and surrounding circuitry and there is no signs of any damage.

So far I have tried (repeatedly):

  • resetting the power (as mentioned above)
  • disconnecting the battery and leaving it unused for a day
  • pressing the little battery reset button on the bottom of the laptop
  • deleting the ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery Driver from the Device Manager Menu and restarting the laptop

Please, if anyone has any advice on what I could do, any suggestions are welcome. I handle my laptop with much care, and it is less than 6 months old, I know nothing is broken/damaged. I'll keep trying various combinations of these methods, but I am just confused on why my battery doesn't provide any power, even tho it indicates to be fully charged.

install acer care center if not aready installed and run battery check. Should work afterwards.
