Have Acer One 10 (S1002-145A) won't detect wireless networks.

At some point it stopped detecting wireless networks; therefore, unable to go online.  I was able to reset the computer, which fixed the issue, but only temporarily.  Sounds like it is a hardware failure, but have not heard anything from Acer.

    So you are unlikely to hear anything from Acer if you don't contact them first. I believe your tablet is new enough that you're still under warranty coverage, which means they'll fix it for you. There have been instances with some models where a few have the antennas come loose, but that shouldn't be the problem if a reset fixes it, even for a short while.More likely you have a failing wireless module. Have you seen problems with bluetooth as well?

    Could also be a failed thermal management (fan) that is letting the wireless module overheat and stop working. Does any part of the case feel hot ? Does a fan blowing under it change anything ?

    I am having the same issue. I returned my first device to Best Buy since I was within their return period. The second one seems to have the same issue. It only seems to appear when the machine is being woken from sleep mode. A restart generally solves the issue. But the fact that I have seen this on two devices, and the wireless does eventually come back makes me think the issue is software and not hardware.

    I will reach out to Acer support and see what information they have to offer.

    Might try going to Device Manager > Network Adapter > & select (double click) on your wireless adaper. A wndow will open with a number of tabbs. Under Power and Advanced turn off (disable) all relating to power management and wakeup.

     

    See if acts differently.

     

    Also there were a lot of improvements in the Windows 10586 upgrade. Do you have that ? (MSINFO32)

    A few weeks ago, apparently after one of the Win 10 updates (not sure), my grandson's ACER tablet would no longer connect to the internet by wireless (no connections would be shown). I stumbled onto this solution below. I have been playing with the issue off and on for about a week. My son-in-law
    had given up and said he was inclined to put linux on the system (glad he didn't since that may make it more difficult for my grandson in school). It was just one service that was off and needed to be turned on.

     

    I was looking up how to test and got to a microsoft site
    (support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/10741/windows-10-fix-network-connection-issues ) and tried the command with the following result:

    CSmiley Embarassednetsh wlan show wlanreport
    Generating report ...
    The Wireless AutoConfig Service (wlansvc) is not running.failed, error is 0x5
    You must run this command from a command prompt with administrator privilege.

    So I went to services and wlansvc was not active. Turned it on to run the report and noticed that the wireless was running and saw connections. That solved the problem.

    I changed the configuration of the wlansvc service to start as automatic in the Windows Services.
