Acre W510 micro hdmi -> vga not working

Hi All,

I am unable to connect Acre W510 to any external monitor.  I have tried the micro hdmi - > vga and also a display-link based usb monitor adapter on multiple monitors (really old to latest win 8 compatible) and none worked.

On HDMI the laptop recognizes the second monitor, but it is always black.   When I select the 2nd monitor the option to change resolution is greyed out.   I have tried updating monitor drivers (from device manager) to display manufacturer driver.   Now I see the right display name , but windows refuses to either accept the correct display or allow me to change to anything else other than 1366 x 768.  I even tried updating monior driver to a generic pnp with the right resolution and still no luck!

Latest display-link driver V7.1M  is not compatible with atom processors.

Any help will be appreciated.

First, try to update new drivers .

No need to uninstall drivers ,just install the driver package which would replace of old drivers.

Then check micro hdmi to vga cable is avalible for other tablets or nb.

And then If there is no signal sign on external monitor again ,  try to replug micro HDMI for many times until external monitor's signal on (Monitor must keep power on).

(Long press -> choose right menu "Screen Resolution"-> Check "Multiple dispays:" shown up until hdmi work)

     It might work.

Ah! it was a faulty hdmi to vga adapter that came in the box.  Brought a new one off ebay and all is working now!!

"Came in the box" ? All that was in mine was a USB adapter, I had to get a VGA adapter from Amazon.
