I have recently bought the Predator 17 G9-791-72VU, and for some reason when I am playing Games such as League of Legends or Counter Strike:Global Offensive (as example), I am sometimes experiencing 2-4 Seconds Freezes (randomly) and I dont really know why.

I have updated the Drivers of the Graphics Card and Windows (Windows 10), but that didnt really fix anything.
I'm not really sure how to fix this Issue since this Laptop is meant to obviously play Games more fluent.
It would be great if someone could help me with my Situation.
Thanks.

    Soju,

That can't be fun to deal with, especially if it hits at an important moment. If this is happening when you know things are loading from the HDD, you might want to try restoring the system, but if this is happening during the action when everything should be loaded into memory, you might want to make sure the BIOS is up to date. You may want to contact a local Acer repair center and have them take a look at it as well if it continues. I'm sure they can get that corrected for you quickly.

  • As especially this game is known for various problems on different systems, do you have any other similar problems with other games?

My son is playing Counterstrike G O  on a 780TI. It's in many setups slower than with his old Radeon 6780. Freezes also happened.

There're many workarounds to find in the www. Some like disabling multi core rendering (which of course reduces frames) and so on.

I would suggest to try other games, before you look for hardware issues. And you can also check your memory and do tests witth tools like furemark and so on. For memory you can use windows as well. Just type memory to the search. Such tests are only useful if they run for a longer time like 24h.

We came across the same problem in this topic. A video of the problem can be found in this youtube link at 0:36.

    Hi,

I bought the 792 version but had the same problem,  in ALL games. The freeze is caused by the internal hard disk spinning down to often. When a game needs to stream data (for instance audio samples) the drives spins up and the game freezes until the drive delivers the requested data. From what i've read Acer is busy getting firmware updates for these drives. In my case it's a Seagate Momentus 2TB disk.

You should check first if this problem is not present if the game is installed on the internal SSD drive (drive c).

I couldn't care less about the decond harddisk, so i replaced it with an Intel SSD. Problem solved (for me).

    I hope this helps.

    Elpedro.
