I know this is an old thread, but at the moment very fresh for me. I did the same; went to Win 10, but after 8 months I realized that Win 10 is not working well on my Acer laptop. I follow that link on previous link, but I don't have there that option to go back to earlier version. For me it says "This setting is not available, because your computer was updated more than 10 days ago".

I would like to make the clear install of Windows 7 (which originally came with the computer, already installed). I don'T have recovery or install disc, but I read that I could restart with alt+f10 and make the clear install like that. Does it really work, even if I have Win 10 installed? no alt+f10 will not work, since windows 10 recovery bypassed the original recovery.

if you need the original recovery, you can ask to Acer.

    Acer recovery media
    US:

    Canada:

if you are outside the US and Canada, you must call/email your regional Acer support service:

can I install Win7 from Win7 disc (which I could borrow from my friend) ??? Is the product code working with that, or will it be locked if I don't use the recovery disc from Acer shop?

normally windows 7 product key will work only using OEM versions.

is the OEM disc free from Acer Support (as I already paid Windows once, when I bought the computer - but the disc didn't come with it)? I have the product key already.

no, you need to pay it.

Acer should give it free, because there was no warning to install windows 10. no warning from Microsoft, no warning from Acer.

it sounds like great deal between those two companies. First they let the install happen, after they offer only 1 month time to back to Windows 7, but because nothing radical will not happen so fast (in Windows 10 updates), people go with win10, and then after 6 months the problems arrive after the new updates... and then it's too late to go back. They calculated that well. So people NEED to go back, and the only option is to pay. Of course they want to make money, in every possible way. But from my own perspective they are cheating & not respecting their customers with that type of ugly business.

I am not gonna pay anything for those companies. I paid once when I bought the computer. 500 euros is not a small money for me - and that should be enough. So I will say bye bye to Windows, and going into Linux world.

And of course, if I ever have money to buy new computer, I make sure it will not be Acer - and I hope more people would do the same.
