Just bought an upgraded Predator model two days ago.  Updated the BIOS to 1.09.

Come to find out, the 2.5" SSD I put in (same one that was once used in my G9-791), cant have AHCI mode activated.

The two 128GB M.2 cards are in Raid.

I was hoping to activate AHCI mode on the 2.5" SSD (Samsung 850 EVO), and leave the two M.2 cards in Raid.  Is that even possible?  I dont see a way to change out of Raid configuration anyway, the option is greyed out.

no, you can't have RAID and AHCI at the same time, it's a chipset configuration so one exclude the other.

by the way, your model has only RAID as available option.

Gotcha. Also, Samsung Magician can't seem to identify and device information from the EVO. That is weird.

if i remember correctly, samsung magician will work only under AHCI and with samsung nvme drivers installed.

But the 850 EVO isn't an NVMe. I'll try some things tonight and report back.

Sorry, should have made that clear.

    I have two 128GB M.2 cards in Raid (256GB)

And the rotary hard drive I pulled out and put in my 1TB 850 EVO SSD (SATA).

I was hoping to have the SATA drive operate in AHCI mode, while leaving the two M.2 cards in their factory Raid setup.

Does that make more sense? Smiley Tongue

yep, more sense but as i already wrote...or RAID or AHCI no mixed solutions Smiley Very Happy

    Tinkerer

Is there any way to disable RAID mode completely and change it to AHCI?

Specifically, I would like to remove the 2 128gb SSD drives and install a single nvme 950 pro and run that (and the 1tb drive) in AHCI mode.

I already have a backup on USB that i can restore the system on and would ultimately like to keep the 2 128gb SSD drives as a backup solution incase something happens to the 950 pro nvme drive.
