h6510bd dirty lens
The lens on my h6510bd is dirty.
On warmup when I project just the logo, I can see out-of-focus elements. If I change the focus (putting the ACER logo very out of focus), I can see specs and hairs and dust.
I have tried to clean it myself (just the light pipe and first element), but I assume it is inside the sealed lens housing.
Is this something I CAN do myself (I really don't want to break the foam and open the housing)?
Or can I send it in to be cleaned? Or just buy a new lens element?

After watching a youtube video showing the dissasembly of the lens assembly, I took the chance and cracked that sucker open and cleaned it.
Good as new! Crystal clear! Wasn't as hard as I thought.

Hi. I have the same problem with dirty lens. Would you be so kind to give me a link to those youtube video you used for it? I contacted our local service centers and they did not help me, so I should do it by myself, thanks Acer for their support

Hi SerLapp,
This video isn't of the same projector model, but it shows a complete dissasembly:
If you need to know how to open your projector, you can use this video:
Once you have the lens assembly (they call it an 'engine') out of the projector:
- pull the focus knob off, it pops straight off the lens
- remove the zoom lever (some small screws)
- remove the lens itself (three screws I think)
- remove the DLP heatsink
- once the heatsink is removed, you can pop the DLP board out (I don't think there are screws)
This should leave you two very large openings to clean the mirrors, DLP chip, and back of the lens.
Good luck!

Hi MBell!
Your advice helped me to solve this problem. Thank you very much, now my projector is working as new one.
But I just wonder why our local Acer service center could not help me to fix this problem so I had to do it by myself.
Thank you,
Sergey.
