Acer XG270HU only 75hz on Nvidia GPU

I just got this product. I am using the included DisplayPort (1.2) cable. Nvidia only allows me to set 75Hz as refresh rate, and nothing higher than this on any other resolutions.
GPU used is a MSI GTX1080 SeaHawk X 8GB, DisplayPort 1.4 capable.
Any help please? Do I need to enable something in the monitor itself?

Seems like buying Acer product was a complete mistake. No support at all.

We tested this same monitor on a system with a PNY GTX1080 video card and was able to get the native resolution of 2560x1440 and had options to select 60-144Hz. Not sure why you are not seeing this refresh rate with your video card but you might check with the video card vendor to see if there is something they can suggest to get their controller to see these same options.

What driver version did you use?
Did you change anything in monitor settings to enable 144Hz options?
Was DP cable used the one that came with monitor?0 -
I don't have the version number but it's the latest Nvidia driver. We made no changes on the monitor itself as the refresh rate is selected through the Nvidia control center. And we did use the included DP cable.

You must scroll down in the Nvidia control panel to get native resolution and 144.

A lot of people use GeForce Experience so you can not only have the latest driver, but also optimize your settings.

To clear things up: I am rather advanced user, and I know how to do those things. Both Nvidia driver and Windows display settings allow only 75Hz refresh rate, no matter what resolution or setting.
I am thinking that issue might be the fact that Windows recognises the monitor as "Generic" rather than actual brand and model. I will look into fresh Windows installation. That is weird as I tried to install Acer supplied drivers through Device Manager but to no avail.
Thanks anyway. I will have new DP cable tomorrow, maybe that is an issue (faulty cable). Also will try factory reset the monitor.0 -
Generic has absolutely nothing to do with it. That's good to know that you're an advanced user.

Interesting... Well I will give previously mentioned steps a shot before I try reinstalling Windows. Might check the laptop, not sure if 970m supports 144hz but will check anyway. If I will get on it more than 75Hz thenmonitor will not be the culprit here.0

Well my laptop has miniDP. So cant test that.
Resetting monitor settings did not do a trick.
Different driver versions did not help either. Still onlg 60 or 75hz available for any resolution (native 1440p too).
Cable and fresh OS left to be tested.
Can someone check this S/N? I am surprised that on the box it does not say 144Hz as a feature. As well as the manual says only 75Hz...

Do you have a friend, family member, neighbor, or co-worker that will let you take your monitor to their house and check for 144?

Sadly I do not.
S/N was on the box, and it's all correct.
Sadly onboard graphics operates at max 60Hz over any cable. And my spare GTX750Ti won't be useful either, it doesn't have DisplayPort...

Have you tried checking MSI support website as Acer-Mary suggested. Apparently they have a utility to update your card's BIOS.

2. Did you install the OS in legacy mode or do you have UEFI/GPT

3. 2 at the moment. This Acer and an old BenQ 1080p. Completely disconnecting BenQ does not fix my issue.0 -

What are you using? Extend or Duplicate?

Extend. But as I said, even with BenQ being disconnected I still have only options of 60 and 75Hz.0
