Acer Aspire R3 Model N15WS Black and white garbled screen on start up
The laptop was up against its side while charging on the floor. It accidentally fell on to the ground. When I fired it back up, the screen was bright and garbled with black and white lines. Does anyone know what the problem might most likely be? And if so, a part number would be a big help.
Thank you for any assistance you can give

Hi,
If you can open it up, reseat the memory modules and see whether it fixes the problem, it might have dislodged due to fall. Connect the laptop to another external monitor to eliminate faulty screen, if it works fine with external monitor, it could be either loose cable or damaged screen. If you are unable to do these, get it done by a technician in a local repair shop or get in touch with Acer support Centre. HTH.

Thank you for the tip! I opened it up, but I have very little experience in this kind of capacity. I can't seem to find or identify the memory. I tried looking up a video tutorial on youtube for my model, but found none I could reference. Would you be able to steer me in the right direction to locating it?

Hi,
Could you please post the model number, like R3-131t.
EDIT:It should be similar to this video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75iawKkvzqo
You need to lift carefully the black/white(red cross) memory module shield

That is indeed my computer-Thx. But I am having difficulty budging that memory module in the slightest. Could you recommend the best method of doing so. My first instinct was to slightly nudge it with a flat head screw driver but I'll wait until I hear back from you.

There should be latches on each side of the memory module that will release the stick. Pop it loose, make sure it's fully down into the slot and then click it back down.
It could also be the video cable connection to the motherboard. It's held in place with some transparent tape.

Hi,
I suspect a loose display cable, have you tried connecting to an external monitor? If it doesn't bother you with the normal function, just keep on using but if you are unhappy, take it to a repair shop locally.

Apologies. Forgot about that suggestion. I've never attempted using an external monitor for a laptop. How does the process work?
Thank you
