Hi, I replaced my HDD a few days ago, now my PC only recognize two memory RAM's. If i try to add one or the two others the machine just won't boot. Since i replace the HDD there's something i need to change in the BIOS or somewhere else.

Sorry if i ask something very similar in my last post, but i'm lost here.

normally you don't need to set anything on BIOS when adding ram.

if it doesn't boot, probably the new ram sticks are out of specifications.

can you please post your Acer desktop model and ram?

    • Four DIMM slots supporting 240-pin unbuffered DDR3 SDRAM
    modules
    • Data rate supported: 800/1066/1333 MT/s
    • Maximum memory: 16 GB (using four 4 GB modules)

let me understand one thing: before installing the HDD was the memory all recognised?

your PC has from factory 2 ram sticks, are you trying to add just one?
have you checked if ram voltage is the same as the factory modules?

Yes, Before the HDD installation the four sticks were working 8GB installed 7736 available. No i have the 2 factory ones were they come (black slots) and the new ones in the blue slots 4 x 2GB RAMs.

No i don't know how to do that. But the sticks not working is one from factory and other new. As now the PC is working with one of each and in different slot colors.

ok, so let's try a few things:

disconnect the HDD and boot to BIOS pressing Del key, are all the ram sticks recognised?

    if not

pull out all the ram sticks and put only the 2 new sticks, boot to BIOS, are the ram sticks recognised?

    if not

pull out the ram stick on the second slot, boot to BIOS, is the ram stick recognised?

    if not

pull out the ram stick and put the 2 old ram sticks, boot to BIOS, are the ram stick recognised?

Well, now I'm almost sure its the motherboard. No mater what combination of RAM, the machine only boot in the two first slots (one blue and one black). It's worth to replace the MB?

Have a close look if there's dust inside the ram slot.

About replacing the MB, it depends on your budget and what you need as PC performance.
