Disassembly of Acer Predator 17

Hello,

I am planning to upgrade my Acer Predator 17's ram. It has only 8GB pre-installed. I was thinking that I will buy a matching pair of 16GB sticks and enable the dual channel mode. I know that I have to perform a complete disassembly to get to the other two ram slots located between the keyboard and the motherboard.

My question is, do I have to remove the heatsinks and reapply the paste or is there a way to do it without having to remove the heatsinks

I dont think you have to remove the heatsinks (I did a similar upgrade just to replace the stock ram with 4 X 8GB modules). I didnt even fully take out the motherboard, I just loosened it enough to lift it up and insert the RAM modules. I did find that the thermal paste was put on pretty badly so I replaced it myself with better paste and got a quiter laptop Smiley Happy
