the combination of windows key + volume up is configured to start narrator by default

i disabled this setting, the option is shown as "none" in both the classic and metro contol panel, however when i press the combination narrator still starts

i would like this combination to start up the on screen keyboard. the option is there, it just does not work

is this hard-coded in the W700? any ideas?

    Unfortunately, there is not a key combination to launch the on screen keyboard, without a keyboard attached.

    this is still an issue; I too cannot get the Windows+Volume Up to behave according to my selection in ease-of-access.

    Regardless of what I select (none, magnifier, on-screen keyboard, etc), I continue to get screen narration.

    Please revisit this issue and let us know your findings.

    thank you

    I was able to duplicate the issue that you are reporting. I will continue to investigate and will update this thread when a solution is available.

    I'm currently facing the same issues as well, bought my w700 folio yesterday and the problem still has not been fixed. When the tablet is working fine, the pressing the power button will cause the tablet to go into sleep mode. However, the narrator + volume issue arises when pressing the power button does not cause the tablet to go to sleep (strangely, if it is in sleep mode, it is able to wake up from sleep when I press the button), and if the volume up button is pressed, it turns on narrator instead of adjusting the volume. I seriously hope this is but a software problem that can be fixed by an acer update.

    I too have been having issues with the power button not putting it to sleep, and I had this problem day one out of the box Smiley Sad le sigh... I wonder if Acer is going to fix that too along with the volume control.

    Hi Readers,

    The Acer.com/au site lists that a bios update fixes this issue;

    http://acer-au.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/29974/~/iconia-w700-ease-of-access-option-for-configuring-windows-key-%2B-volume-up-does

    Not sure what (not for updates) means after the file name, any ideas or testers?

    For most of you who is frustrated by the Narrator, there is a temporary solution. The frustration comes because whenever the Narrator opened up, it basically requires mouse, not a touchscreen, and using the touchscreen will be somewhat impossible. Solution: delete the Narrator .exe file.
