B246HL DisplayPort issues - "No Signal"

So I have a new B246HL with 2 ports (1- vga and 1-DVI)

When I hook it up using the VGA port it works fine however when I hook it up using the DVI port it either says "no signal or no cable connected"

My desktop is an Acer VM6630G that has been undated to Windows 10 using the onboard video card..

I know the computor is working ok as I borrowed a friends monitor and hooked it to the DVI port on the computor and it worked properly..

So anyone know what is wrong with this Acer monitor? Can I fix it or do I have to return it to the store or to Acer to replair? My old monitor quit so if I have to send it in for repairI am without a computor for however long it takes to get it back In which case I will buy a different manufacturer's monitor and just get rid of this one..

Thanks,

Jim

to be sure it's a moinitor fault, try to connect your monitor to another PC or laptop using DVI cable and check if it works.

if not it's a faulty monitor.

    I'm not an Acer employee.

I did the same thing by connecting another monitor to my computor and it worked fine but when I connected this monitor to my computor I get the messages so my guess would be my new monitor has failed right out of the box.. I'm not going to bother any more I will get rid of this one and get a different monitor so I'm not without a computor for who knows how long waiting for Acer to fix it and return it to me..

    Thanks

OK so more info on my problem..

I took my monitor to the Acer repair shop and they hooked it to 2 different computors of which 1 was the same model as mine and the monitor worked perfectly using the DVI to DVI cable.

Hooked it back up to my computor and no picture although I can look in the Intel graphics control panel settings and it says that my monitor is there and the resolution is 1920 x 1080 @ 60pHZ so the computor is recognizing my monitor but for some reason it is not sending the picture to the screen or the monitor is not recognizing what it is receiving so I get a picture..

Hooked it up using the VGA cable and it worked perfectly.

Bought a Displayport to DVI adapter and hooked it up and it worked but instead of it being DVI the monitor says it is operating in VGA mode even though it is hooked through the DVI input port.

Anyone any ideas where else to look for the problem..??
