I purchased an ACER A1-850 for my wife and the screen has a hair-line crack.

Let me say this we have owned Android tablets and phones for years and have no cracked screens.

After 1 week, and this ACER is in a case, never dropped....  she noticed something that looked like a sumdge. I wiped it with a cloth and the crack spread accross the entire screen!

Is there a KNOWN DEFECT on these screens?

If ACER will not fix this.... Will an A1-840 Screen Fit? I cannot find an A1-850.

Very disappointed. Never had this issue on the other Anroid tablets / phones I have owned.

Can an Acer support person answer the question above regarding screen replacement?

    Hi Garak,

I can confirm that there are no issues with the A1-850 that would create stress on the panel and cause it to crack without some outside force being applied.

Our support team can help you get this resolved and we can service the device and fix the screen. Unfortunately, the warranty would not cover the cost of repair for a cracked screen. If I can help facilitate contact with our support team, please send me a private message with your contact information and I can ask our US team to reach out to you.

    Cory,

Thank you for the response. Can you tell me will and A1-840 screen fit A1-850?

I was on the chat but they could not tell me.

    Thank you.

Unfortunately, I can't guarantee it. They are the same size, but looking at the information of the panel (which includes some plastics) it is a different part number from the 840 to the 850.

You might be able to contact our store online and inquiring about purchasing a piece part. http://store.acer.com

I also have an Acer A1-850 with a cracked screen and could not find a replacement for the 850 but by checking the part #'s on the 850 and on the 830 they are both the same. (CFF3001)  There are plenty of CFF3001's on E-Bay and other sources on the internet.  I order one this morning to make sure and will let you know when it comes in.

    Bobby J,

I also have an A-1 850 with a cracked screen... Did the 830 replacement screen work for the A-1 850?

I bought an A1-830 screen from Ebay and the screen DID NOT work.  It wasn't even the same size.  Needless to say, I am very annoyed at how difficult it has been to replace a screen.  You would think they would be readily available, considering the popularity of the device and how often screens break.  Not impressed with Acer's response to this situation either.
