A1-830 Wifi poor signal strength after Kitkat update

I have the A1-830 and ran the Kitkat 4.4.2 update a couple of days ago.  Now my wifi signal is very weak.  I have to be right next to the router to receive any signal.  Placing the tablet next to the router gives me 3 out of 4 bars.  3 feet away it drops to 2 bars and 5 feet away it's 1 bar.  Going to the next room I can't get any signal.  Using my phone I can get 4 bars in the next room.  Before the update I was able to receive the Wifi signal fine.  Any ideas?  I have already factory reset the device and that didn't help.  My build is Acer_AV0K0_A1_830_1.006.00_WW_GEN1 running 4.4.2 and kernel version 3.10.20.  Thanks.

    I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing a problem with your wifi signal strength. I took our A1-830 and tested it as you described below but could not duplicate the issue. I have the same version installed but nothing. After that I did a search online and found several devices going to Kitkat have been experiencing a similar issue. Below are some suggestions I found that helped resolve simliar problems:

     

    • Go to Settings -> Location -> Mode -> tap High accuracy.
    • Go to Settings -> Wi-Fi -> Advanced (found in the menu by tapping button in the top right) -> then uncheck Wi-Fi optimization.

    Hi, I have tried the potions, but stll I am unable to connect to wifi on my A1-830 acer android tab. Can u plz suggest any other solutions.

    Do you see the network? If so, what signal level is it showing?

    I see the network, but the signal strength is weak. even I went near my router and always see signal is weak on tab. I am able to connect all my other devices to my router.

    Hi, I bought it in Nov 2014 (4 months) from Bestbuy. Is it under warrenty if it is less than a year? Please suggest what I can do regarding the same.

    yes is still under warranty, contact BestBuy or Acer support service.

    I'm not an Acer employee.

    I just fixed mine I used a butter knife and pushed the anntena connection back on and presto week WiFi fixed
