Aspire Swtich 10 SW5-015 Anniversary Update Freeze

As soon as I try to click on anything on the desktop or taskbar my switch 10's mouse will show the loading symbol and nothing will happen. I was able to navigate to the update pane to try to download the most recent update that might solve these problems, but it won't initiate the download and just sits at 0% until it freezes. I would be fine wiping my computer but I don't have a flashdrive I could boot it from. I can't get it to enter safe mode. This was right after installing the Windows 10 Anniversary Update overnight. I've cycled power about 15 times and it still will not respond to mouse inputs, even though the taskbar responds when I click, so it's not a driver problem.

I did that for an hour or so, but it just never got going. I finally got it into safe mode by clicking through settings really fast before it locked up after restarting it. I just reset C:, and it runs so much better than it did before anyway. Definitely annoying that I had to spend a few hours getting it to that point, but I did pay almost nothing for this little frisbee so whatever.

I wonder if the update is just running a bazillion background tasks to finish? Have you tried just letting it run for a few hours to see if it gets better after a while?

I have had lesser machines take overnight to finish an upgrade. Might try a Ctrl-Alt-Del while it is just sitting there and see if you can open task manager.
