S57 Microphone Not working in Calls

After endless crashes my phone finally became stable. However, not to be outdone I can nolonger make any calls as the internal microphone does not work, so no one can hear me. The only way round this is to use a headset or speakerphone.

 

I noticed other Android 4.4.4 phones are having similar problems. Acer please can you advise? This makes the phone effectively useless!!  Given this is the core feature it is very disappointing and looks bad for Acer.

    Try a factory reset, backup your personal data first:

    settings/backup&reset - factory data reset

     

    if microphone still doesn't work and you are under warranty, give Acer support service a call.

    Hi, same issue here.

    Is there a way to test microphones? I want to avoid factory reset and I want to be sure that the problem is not a hardware problem.

    I have the same issue with my Acer Liquid.  Did you find out how to fix it?

    No, still no mic when I use the phone without speaker...

    Try to reboot you phone, because I have the same problem and the reboot solves the problem for few days.

    Unfortunately yes.
    I sended my Jade S to the French after sale service, and the only thing that the service has done is a "rework".
    I'm not the only one, other peoples in France have the same problem.
    It's very bad, because I can't use my smartphone like a phone in good conditions (because I hear very often "What do you say ? Can you get closer to your phone...".
    I will send again my phone to the after sale service and hope that acer will solve my problem because it is very problematic..

    Did it ever work?  I'm still under the 1 year warranty but I'm in Canada

    Hello everyone,

     

    I'm sorry that you've ran into this issue on your S57.  If the problem still happens after a factory reset it's probable that the unit has a hardware issue.  Please contact your local Support for more information on the process to set up the unit for repair.

    My Microphone just went...works on Speakerphone but no one can hear me in regular phone mode... ??? Hope to get a solution... Please advise... ***

    Hi, I'm facing the same issue. When I reboot the phone, the mic works again, however suddenly the phone switched off and on itself and some message about rearranging applications appeared. And since then the mic doesn't work again.

    Same here, microphone not working on calls, only when on loudspeaker. Tried restarting, tried factory reset through phone menu and through boot menu (came out all in chinese for some reason, had to find out what means what) no luck whatsoever, now trying to update to nougat but no luck, no help, no nothing from android, from acer, from google play. im disgust. what has one to do to get simple update? without installing dosen of applications and programs on computer and on phone. btw microphone went wrong after warranty went off too, smells fishy to me.

    Acer refuses to repair the phone after 12 months of warranty. It is clear they have a serious problem and it's all over the world. will I buy Acer again? NOPE
