Locked Out - Acer Iconia

My son has stupidly created a voice recognition passlock, which for some reason it now doesn't recognise his voice, but even if it did work he has also created a 'pattern' passlock and he can't remember what it is.
Basically he's locked out with no forseeable way of bypassing the locks he's applied himself.
Is there any way around this? Can I return the tablet back to factory settings somehow?
Thanks in advance for any advice.......

I'm getting nowhere with this. I managed to restore to factory settings but google are asking me to log in with a google account previously synced to the device. I'm logging in with my son's google account details but it won't verify it.
The tablet was bought reconditioned back in July. Is it possible it's looking for the account details of the previous owner? Is there any way to bypass the verification?

if you are connected to a wifi and your google account is not working, probably you need the details of the previous owner.

If you sign into Google with a different machine you should be able to access the account preferences to see if the tablet has been synced with the Google account. If it has you should be able to reset signin preferences for that device and get in. One of the advantages of doing the login through a central account...
