USB 3 type-c memory stick not detected on Aspire Switch 10 V Win 10

I don't seem to be able to find anything about this problem. Have a new Switch 10 V with USB 3 type-c port - bought a SanDisk Ultra Type-C 16 GB USB 3.1 Flash Drive (from Amazon) but it is not detected at all. There is no sign of it anywhere, no error message. Not unrecognised, but simply not detected.

Have tried Device Manager etc. but no luck (uninstalling, looking for new driver, etc.).

Now that I go to Sandisk's website, they make is sound a little like maybe this little stick of theirs has very lmited use - they actually list a very limited number of devices they claim to be compatible with this USB stick of theirs: http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/17189

the list does not include this Switch (though as I say, the list doesn't include much at all. Seems like a piece of rubbish to me.

But now I have no idea which USB 3 type-c memory stick I should get for this.

Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Is the version of Windows up to date? USB hardware drivers up to date?

The function of the USB can be afected by many things.

It seems to me that this Switch (and many other devices) is not compatible with usb type c memory sticks. Maybe it can connect to something by cable, but apparently not by stick. Bit of a waste of time, I feel, and this means I do NOT have a usb 3 port at all, as promised.

It's still worse. I have the Switch 12 with its brand new usb type 3 port, which so far is useless for me. I bought a usb type 3 to usb3 cable and it doesn't work at all. What can I use that port for? How do I know what is compatible with it? Another usb3 would've made much more sense for me. Such a pity!

"Type C" and "USB 3.1" are two different things & 3.1 gen2 is relatively new.

The drive does not appear in diskmgmt.msc ?
