Acer One 10 powers down hard drive

Hello,

I've recently purchased a One 10 S1002 convertible tablet, the one with a 500GB hard drive located in the base.

Unfortunately, there are some pretty big issues with Windows managing the hard drive. After booting the system or reconnecting the base, everything works fine for a few minutes until the hard drive powers down. Then I am no longer able to write nor read any data.

Windows keeps showing the message "Device is not ready" when trying to copy something. Error checking reports errors on the drive. Disk Management, after rescanning disks, shows the drive as "Unknown" and "Not Initialized".

Basically, the entire system goes bananas.

In Device Manager, I have disabled "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" for all USB devices, since "USB Mass Storage Device" is, as far as I have managed to decipher, used for the hard drive. Unfortunately, it hasn't helped.

My BIOS version is 1.10. I'm using Windows 10 Home with the latest update (build 14393).

If any more information is needed, I'll gladly provide it. Any assistance would be more than welcome.
