Aspire S7-392 SSD

When the extended warranty for my Aspire S7 expired I swapped the original 128gb SSD for a 1tb SSD. However, with the original SSD in an external enclosure, now I can only access half of the 128gb. Therefore, I have a question.

1. How can I get access to the full SSD?

Thanks.

How is the 128GB ssd connected to the computer? Usb? SATA? Also, there is most likely a recovery partition which may not readable by windows. Try using a live Gparted iso to format the entire 128GB drive as ntfs.

The ssd is enclosed in an external usb enclosure. Looking at the properties all that is visible is about 64gb (actually a little less). In the partition software I have that also is all that is shown. I will try your suggestion and let you know. Thanks.

Don't know. Where will I find diskmgmt.msc? Thanks.

in the start menu you can type diskmgmt.exe and it should say "Create and format hard disk partitions". Open that.

Actually is diskmgmt.msc. Can hold the windows button and type "R" then enter diskmgmt.msc. Should be Disk 0.

OK. Diskmgmt.msc, Gparted and my partition software all say the same thing. The original SSD is now entirely unallocated and has 59.63gb of space. I think I may have goofed in wiping the drive after I swapped it for the 1tb SSD. So, I'm back to my original question: How can I recover access to the entire 128gb of space? I don't need or care about what has bern on it -- I'm not interested in recovering the data; I just want to be able to all the space in the future. I seem to have read somewherr that the drive is actually in two parts or segments of 64gb that are spanned to appear as one drive. So now what? Thanks.

Windows has a low level program called diskpart.exe that runs from a DOS window and is very poweful. It allows low level formatting  so be very careful and stick to LIST and SELECT functions unless you know exactly what you are doing.

There also is a third party program called RUFUS that may be able to do what you need.

Does sound like the disk is partioned as RAID 1 (mirrored).

It was originally partioned as RAID 0. It has been a long time since I've used diskpart. I'd have to be very cautious. I'll look into RUFUS. The SSD is made by Kingston as I recall. If so, I will contact them about the issue and how to resolve it.

Tried diskpart and the space before and after the operation remain identical at 59.63gb. I will contact Kingston and see if they have a solution.
