kitkat reset button does not work, how to reset when I can't get past first screen?

I want to do a factory rest on my Acer Android kitkat tablet,  I can't get past the screen lock, even though the pin is correct.  I tried a paper clip in the reset hole many times but nothing happened.  Nothing changed.

I read some comments and opened up the back to remove the battery but there is no way that I can do that.  Something was said about pulling the gray wire up a bit, but I am leery of that,

All I want is for the tablet to g back to factory default.  Is there another way?

 

Oh, downloaded the user manual and that doesn't unzip right.  I have no file to read that is a user guide.

    Thank you, but I watched a video on Youtube.com that showed how to hold down the power and sound buttons at the same time until the menu pops up where you get to choose to do a factory reset.  It worked!!

    It's all fixed now, thank you.

     

    I guess you didn't see the post I left several hours ago, that said thank you and that I watched a youtube video that showed me what I needed to do and that fixed it?  Then I thanked you for your time.  gave you a kudos and  clicked on accepted a solution.  I will do it again if it will make you feel better.
