Anyone get w510 protective case yet?

I noticed there's a w510 protective case available in the Acer store.  Has anyone gotten one of these yet?  Very few details or pictures in the store.  Mainly I want to know whether it allows use of the tablet while in the case (a flip cover type case) or whether it's just a sleeve you can store the tablet in while not in use?  Thanks.

From the information that I've been able to gather, it appears to be a flip-cover case, rather than a sleeve.

    Hope that helps.

I'd be concerned about a flip cover case unless thermally conductive. The W510 is fanless/ventless and I noticed a hot spot on the upper right corner above the miniUSB and HDMI sockets.

I got one on the off chance I could use it without taking it out of the cover... no such luck. It is a pouch that the W510 slips into and it must be removed before it can be used. The pouch can be folded into a stand but that is about it. It is well constructed and has a very nice feel but not worth the money.

Is there a generic stand for this and similar tablets that one would recommend?

The Acer protective case functions as a stand as well.  The case stores the tablet (like an envelope) and when you remove the tablet you can configure the case as a stand.

so its a flip cover case. So does it connect to the tablet? And will it put it in sleep mode when it covers the screen?  For the life of me dont know why Acer doesnt promote its accessories and or give details /more oics and info on their merch

It allows you to stand up the device and all ports are accesible. It does not automatically turn the device into standby mode.

I have not seen a case for the W510.  I have only seen this work on Android devices such as the Google Nexus line.

This is a nice case and gives very little bulk to the device.

I got one Kensington case, a unversal case for 10" tabs.

I have since moved the tablet down further towards the end of the case which allows me to use the keyboard dock and when folded like a stand it became more stable.

It is slighlt bigger than the tablet, it is a bit annoying and I believe it wauld have been looking better with a tighter fit. On the plus side it gives me room to hold the tablet laying on my forearm and have a grip on the case at the top.

I have tested it slightly to se it will become loose from from the micro-suction thing that holds the tablet and without forcing it I don't believe it will drop.

The case is good for everyday use, storing in a bag. If dropping it... I do not know perhaps it will or perhaps it will not save the tablet.

when it is closed it has an Acer logo in the middle of it on the top cover. Now to me it looks like it attaches on the bottom in the ports suc has it would the docking bay and completey wraps around the whole tablet or at the very least the screen. Much liek a smart cover that Apple put out that Samsung got sued for trying to copy. And Simialer to what Asus has out with it's Asus Vivo Tab Smart ( smart cover/origumi stand )

I bought my W510 without the keyboard/dock and that Acer case comes with it.  It is a slipcase which can be folded to make a stand when the W510 is removed.  IMO it is not very stable as a stand - easy to knock over.  Obviously it does not turn the W510 on or off.

I'll get the other one mentioned in this thread, but since Amazon won't ship it to my country I'll have to pay a dollar more (sigh) and buy it through eBay :-)
