Z5610 dim screen on boot ..

Hi guys, i have a z5610 that turns on displays the acer logo then the screen goes 'black' and it boots into windows.

I initially thought this was a graphics card problem but after using a torch on the screen I can see the dim login screen. could this be a backlight or invertor problem??  if not any ideas as to where the problem lies?

many thanks

if you are able to reach the desktop, you can check if rising the brightness can fix your issue, maybe it's a bad setting.

you can also try to uninstall the graphic adapter from Device manager and then reboott and let windows re-install the driver.

go to Device manager, click on Display adapters, right click on your VGA  and choose uninstall(tick to uninstall software too).

thanks for the response, but the screen is much too dim (without a torch you cant see anything) to do that and tbh I think the problem goes beyond driver issues ..

    try this:
at boot press F8 and check if you are able to boot windows in safe mode.

if in safe mode, the screen is bright, so it's a drivers/software issue, if not, probably can be an hardware issue.

    if it's a software issue:

once in Safe mode, go to Device manager, click on Display adapters, right click on your VGA and choose uninstall(tick to uninstall software too).

    then reboot

Hi Sorry I should have mentioned Id already tried safe mode and booting dirctly into the bios, both produce the same results unfortunately .. so I'll start looking at the invertor/backlights ..
