Predator 17x

Hi,

I'm a happy owner of a new Predator 17x and just found its first fault. It isn't something to die from but it really annoys me to find an issue in the first few hours of usage.

The issue is that the logo on top of the laptop lid has a backlight that is so strong that it appears as a red smudge on the other side of the screen which is pointing towards me. I can see it very well while backlights are ON and brightness of screen is low. The red smudge is right in the center of the field of view. WTH?

Is someone here also having the same problem? WP_20160823_015.jpg

Thats new.  I would venture to say thats a serious manufacturing defect.  I just tried to replicate the issue on my laptop, and couldnt see any light whatsoever.  If its really as bright as whats in the picture (thought it might be the camera flash or something), then you might want to exchange it.  Something isnt right.

Hi, and thanks for the reply!

Unfortunately it isn't a camera flash. This is light breaking through the screen.

    How I test it:

    1. Make sure keyboard lights are ON.

    2. The lid's lights should then also be ON.

    3. The image on the screen should be something on the lighter side, I've used a white background on Desktop.

    4. Press the Fn+F6 (turn off screen backlight).

    5. Voila! I'm enjoying my $3000 red smudge. Smiley Happy

I will contact ACER local support indeed.

    Cheers!

After a quick call and short-term visit to the retailer, problem is fixed. I got a replacement 17x which DOES NOT have the above described issue.

So definitely not a "feature", but a manufacturing error.

    Cheers!
