    try this:

settings/Apps - select ALL tab - scroll until Maps - tap it - tap on clear data tap on clear cache

reboot your phone and try Maps again

Man ! ... Thanks for the hint ... I am dealing with the same issue and yes once I clear the cache I can open it but ... it only still lasts a few seconds.  I called ACER and they basically told me it's not their problem ... even though it is part of their build (or what I call a gold disk)

Anyway, what I did was to do an UNISTALL UPDATES (in SETTINGS/APPS) and a restart of the Tablet

And now it works great ... it is on the Desktop but not in the list of APPS in settings anymore.

    Oh well ...

BTW, thanks for your help in answering all those questions ... Kudos !

This is not a resolved issue. Clearing the cache and rolling back to the initial build only works until the next update cycle.

Maybe if Acer would roll out some security updates or even an update to Marshmallow 6.01 for the Gen 1 tablets, that might make a difference.

I understand the Gen 2 tablets are coming out with Marshmallow 6.01 so why can't the Gen 1 fols get it too?

And I don't think this problem is related to the one with System Doctor.

You are correct ... this does not resolve the issue ... but at least by stopping any updates to Google Maps and just rolling it back to the original pre-installed version, I can open it.

Having said that ... I don't beleive this tablet will get an update to the latest Android version.
