Hi all, I am new to the forum and I am seeking some advise from any experience people here. I am not very technical inclined so please pardon me

I have a Predator G3-605

Intel Core i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz

8GB ram

Geforce GTX 645

I am looking to upgrade my graphic card to a GTX1070

https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Graphics-GV-N1070G1-GAMING-8GD/dp/B01H0WU884/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1470445478&sr=8-1&keywords=GTX+1070+gigabyte

Will there be any problem like compatibility issue? I am thinking that I should upgrade my power supply too to a 650 W (currently a 500W) for the new graphic card, but I have no idea which PSU model should I get here so can anyone suggest a PSU model for me?

Many thanks in advance.

    ipodder,

The gtx 1070 is compatible with your computer as long as it fits.  Some people look at the dimensions of the card and then measure.  Others just go ahead and buy it and send it back if it doesn't fit.  Smiley Surprised

The Gigabyte GTX 1070 recommends a 500W power supply.  You already have that.  So my advice is to use the power supply you have as long as it has an 8 pin power connector. (which I think it does).

Upgrading the power supply on the G3-605 is a little more complicated as Acer used a proprietary 12 pin mainboard connector.  So if you upgraded the power supply, you'd also have to locate and purchase a 12 pin to 24 pin adapter cable too.  You'd have to search the forum and google for more information.  Again, I think you should just use the power supply that you already have..  It will provide more than enough power.

On a side note, if your power supply ever were to fail  in the future and you need to replace your power supply, I'll post the link below.   It's the same one that you have and a pretty good power supply.  That way you won't have to monkey around with trying to find a 12 pin to 24 pin adapter.

Edit: Here's the adapter if you decide to go a different route.

Yes it certainly work well for my Acer in the last few years, and I personally recommend it.

Going by the high price of RTX it seems games in the next few years will still target the GTX cards
