Iconia A3-A30 screen brightness constant

My new A3-A30 always seems to have the same apparent screen brightness irrespective of where on the scale the brightness slider is.  Overall, the brightness is pretty lacklustre but that is my only complaint with this otherwise-excellent tablet.  If I use the Kindle app, it can use its own brightness level independent of the system slider and this does let me get a brighter screen display for that app alone.

 

Is there a way to get the screen to be brighter for other apps?  Have I missed a setting somewhere?

    1) if you feel that screen brightness settings are not working, maybe it's time to try a factory data reset (backup all your personal data first) - settings/backup&reset - factory data reset

    2) i never seen, on android devices, a "per application" brightness setting, so maybe it's a custom Kindle thing.

    I wish I knew though what had caused it...

    can be an application or a corrupted file on the OS.

    I've got the same issue with my brand new Iconia Tab 10 (A3-A40)

     

    Have tried factory reset to no help.

     

    Got any other ideas?
