G276HL Windows 10 compatibility

When trying to upgrade to Windows 10, I got this message:

"The display is not compatible with Windows 10.  Check with the manufacturer for support."

I have an Acer G276HL monitor connected by DVI to an AMD/Radeon HD 6450 display adapter PCI Express 2.1 on an Intel DB75EN motherboard.

Has anyone run into this message and is the monitor the problem?

In all likely hood it is not the monitor but rather software driver for the graphics card.  You will need to check for the exact graphics card and see if there is a W10 driver for it.  Just ran into this problem on the weekend. Had to go to AMD, download new driver, installed and everything worked fine.

Thank you for your very quick feedback.

I re-installed the new driver from the AMD site (15.7.1 per the file name, 15.301.1901.0 per Device Manager), then restarted the computer.  Same "This display not compatible..." message when running Win10 Upgrade.

I then downloaded and tried to install the beta driver (16.2.1 on the file name), but the AMD Installer wouldn't install 16.2.1 since apparently 15.3014.1901.0 is newer.

I did plug the DVI cable into another newer monitor (Dell) and got the same error message.

I'm stumped...and hope I figure it out in the next 3 days so I don't miss the free upgrade to Win10.

Maybe MS will extend the deadline?

    Thank again!

My first suspicion is that AMD doesn't have a W10 driver for your graphics card.  How old is your Acer?

When you went to AMD did they show anything for a w10 compatible driver?   I have been working with Windows/PC since 1980 and have never seen incompatible display unit.  The only thing the display cares about is the video/graphics driver.  Good luck

16.2.1 has to be newer than the 15.3014.1901.0  I would be astounded if the 15.x was newer tha 16.2.1

I would contact AMD support on this one.
