New Guy with One 10

Hi guys,

I just got this yesterday. For the past few years I've been doing everything on my smartphone (well not everything because I still have my power setup for music production) but my friends and I talked about writing a book and so I needed a portable laptop with good battery that wouldn't break the bank. Ultimately, I narrowed my choices to this, the Switch 10, HP X2.

I went with this because it was cheaper than the Switch and already had Win10, unlike the X2.

My past experience with hybrids and netbooks started with Asus EeePC, then EeePC 901, Asus Transformer. All served their purpose but had huge drawbacks. The Asus was awesome tho and I think pioneered the whole 2 in 1 thing.

I still have my "power" setup for games, music production so I don't need this to do more than browsing/youtube/music library management/email/writing.

I'm just amazed how much work I can do with just 1.3ghz and 2gb RAM. My Samsung Galaxy S7 has 4gb RAM and an 8core processor.

Incidentally, someone is kickstarting a laptop "slave" that you plug your smartphone into, giving your phone a bigger screen/keyboard. Today, I think it's gonna work and everyone will start doing it. Funny tho, Palm was the first to come up with the idea: Palm Folio, which prompted Asus to release the EeePC, which started the netbook craze.

Anyway, back to the One 10. Loving it so far. Sure it has it's downs like HDD instead of a high capacity SSD, some sluggishness, some touchpad drift, not very pretty but hey that price.

Well that's all, talk to you all soon!
