can someone please get me a step by step to do the upgrade to my A500 tab. it would be really helpful considering that acer stopped the automatic upgrades as you can see by the so very many posts in this area. I am a bit tech saavy but need some real help in the downloading to an external source and then rebooting with the upgrades. I really do need the help. I am running 4.0.3, acer_av041_a500_rvo5rc01_pa_cus1 (image Verson), build verson, acer_av041)a500_1_033.00_pa_cus1

all help really appreciated

4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich is the latest and last update. No need to update further, cause there is nothing newer.

hey thanks for the really quick response. If I am working in the most updated version then why is the wireless so very slow even when I am right next to the router and the Machine seems to get stuck for the lack of a better word which reduces performance even further.

That sounds more like one of the wireless antennas has come loose, that causes weak signal symptoms. If the signal isn't weak (as in you can make a good connection even if reasonably far from router) but performance is bad I'd be looking really seriously at the various apps you have installed, and perhaps even running an virus scan.

The file you download will be called something like OS_Acer_AV041.A500.RV21RC03.WW.GEN1_A40I_A.zip. Whe  you look in the zip file it will contain either one or two files, update.zip and a text file giving version information. Extract the file "update.zip" from the download and place it in the root folder of your SD card. Don't extract the files inside update.zip, the recovery process will do that for you. When it's installed you'll be back to factory defaults and all your data that hasn't been backed up will be gone.
