Acer One 10 S1002 - micro USB port reports error code 43

I have a problem with micro USB port on S1002 on Windows 10. When I connect the charger, it normally charges battery, but does nothing when I connect USB memory. So I checked the device manager and it says "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)". It worked normally on Windows 8.1, but the problem started after upgrade to Windows 10. I even did a clean install of Windows 10 Education, but the problem persists.

This is what I tried so far:
1. Updating driver - didn't help
2. Reinstalling device - didn't help
3. Disabled USB selective suspend setting in advanced power options (this required adding a registry key that made this setting show in power options) - still nothing.

So, how I see it at this moment is that either USB port stopped working during the upgrade, or Windows 10 drivers are faulty.  I attached the screenshots from device manager.

If you have any idea, I would be so gratefull!!

Thanks

I would firsrt try downloading "Platform drivers" and Bios update from Acer support site.

I'm afraid that didn't work. Platform drivers intallation exits with error, while attempting to update BIOS to version 1.10 returns error "secure flash rom verify fail".

A follow-up question: if tablet charges with charger connected via micro-USB port, but that same micro USB-port doesn't recognize any USB memory, this means that the problem is probably in drivers, right?

You can only charge the tablet using the Acer ac power supply connected to power port on the side. The usb port in the keyboard dock will allow a device such as a pen drive to transfer information. You need an On The Go (OTG) cable like this to use the micro usb port:

    OTG Cable

I don't get it. Does this mean that tablet is not charging, although the red light is on?

And I tried with OTG cable and USB stick with micro connector, and tablet doesn't recognize it.

    Thanks!

What is that white micro cable connected to on the other end. Are you trying to charge the Acer One 10, or an external device from it?

The short black cable is most likely OTG cable. Some aren’t.

I just briefly connected the charger to check if the charging light will go on.

The short black cable is OTG cable, I can confirm that it works with my other devices.

Your battery is 12v. The USB does not allow for input charging as far as I know. The Acer AC power adapter with round end to tablet should be used.

Can you transfer files back and forth using the keyboard USB input?

Are you sure? The charger with 2.5mm connector that I am using to charge it says 2A, 5V and it works perfectly fine. Maybe tablet converts it internally to 12V?

    PS

I'm not trying to discredit you- I'm very grateful for the time you took responding to my questions.

    EDIT:
Yes, USB port on keyboard dock works, no problem with that. It's just micro usb port on tablet that shows error code 43 in Device Manager

I can only find information about charging through charging port only.  Without getting technical converting 5v to 12v within system is not practical or efficientin in your instance . Not sure how you are even  getting the charge light to glow. I am a bit confused.

If your OTG cable is working on other systems, then the possible cause may be from power being pushed into the micro port. The port is designed for moving information back and forth and outputting   5v.

Sorry as I am not understanding and am confused.

It's easy to get the different Switch models confused and even moreso when you get into the S1001 and S1002 models when they're renamed into the Aspire line. The S1002 does use the microUSB port on the tablet portion to charge, at 2A/5V. It's also supposed to act as a normal USB port, without the need for a special cable (IIRC). The standard USB port on the keyboard should also work normally, but only when the keyboard is attached to the tablet.

    Thank you both!!!

Now.. is there a way for me to identify the exact driver I need for that micro USB port, based on one of device's properties?

It should be the standard drivers that ship with Windows, nothing special.

Try uninstalling all controllers under “Universal Serial Bus controllers”.  Rt-click on each one and uninstall, then reboot. They should all reinstall automatically.
