XB270HU Abprz, 120Hz is max. Cant select 144

I just got the TN version, Acer XB270HU Abprz and 120Hz is max choice on an R9 380.

On an older asus i was able to go to additional settings and add custom resolution/refresh higher than the reported refresh maximum.

Here it fails trying anything over 81. I tried 81-100, 120, and 144, all are instant error "The custom resolution settings are not compatible with this display".

Also I cannot get the ULMB mode to work. It says Not available.

From what I know this isnt compatible with GSync. However I'm on an amd and gsync isnt even an option currently.

This confusion combined with the fact I have 3 dead pixels out of the box is not looking promising.

Now I woke up this morning and monitor said "No signal".

I had to disconnect and reconnect the displayport cable to get it back on.

This forum doesn't look busy and I can't find much more on other sites about this monitor.

If this keeps up I will most likely be returning it and going with something with a bigger community behind it.

Sadly I will be returning this monitor.

ULMB doesnt work, no documentation on why. No response on the forum.

120Hz is max option, no 144Hz. I cannot find anything to explain this. My card should be able to do it, just not an option.

At least once so far in the morning it reported No Signal until I unplugged the displayport cable. My pc stays fully on, no suspend, sleep, or hibernate. not acceptable.

3 dead pixels out of the box.

Not sure if was there originally but I have a spot in lower left had corner that isnt putting backlight out properly so its a big dead zone. It draws the eye like a moth to a flame when the screen is mostly 1 non-black color.

The tape on the box was cut when I got it and one side of the box opened as if the glue failed or someone else just pulled it apart.

All these combined with a hefty price tag makes me not a happy customer.

Same problem with my XG270HU, just get 120Hz to work. Dno why... Display Port cable ofc.

THought it would be some settings or stuff. But 120 to 144hz doesnt rly bother me...

    Hi guys,

So, I see a lot cases where users have video cards that just can't push 144hz @ 1440p. On the Nvidia side, it is a GTX 780+ that is needed. I'm not 100% sure about the AMD side, but I'd suspect a R9 390 to do so.

As far as the pixels go, I'd recommend contacting support as it is something they can help you with.

    Thanks,
    Cory

Minor update. For what its worth I bought a different monitor from a different manufacturer and 144Hz works perfectly fine.

I also don't have any backlight bleed, dead backlights, or odd indentation looking areas.

    Definitely was this monitor.
