Wi-Fi disabled after awaking from sleep - G9-591-70VM

Several days ago after waking up the laptop from sleep, the Wi-Fi was disabled.

Only the ethernet icon with a red "X" was present.

Upon troubleshooting and looking into the network settings of the control panel, it was as if Wi-Fi didn't even exist on the laptop.

Restarting the computer didn't fix it. Shutting it down and booting back up did.

It happened a second time just now. Anyone else experience this? Thanks

    Hi Kenshin

Which killer network driver are you using while this happened?

If you are using Acer modified driver (pre-installed with the machine) I recommend that you download the new driver directly from Killer network site (here)

    1. Uninstall the killer driver

    2. Restart the system

    3. Install the new driver downloaded

    4. Restart again

After I did this nothing ever happen related to network to me again (e.g. BSOD, missing WIFI, etc.).

    I'll let you know.

So what do you do, leave the laptop on or shutdown instead of sleep?

Considering it has an SSD and thus quick boot up time, I guess shutting down isn't that bad unless you need to leave your work up (which is pretty important).

Also, would it be bad for the laptop to overdo power cycling for a long time?

I will say that when the Wi-Fi does work upon awakening from sleep, which is the majority of the time since I've had the laptop, it works very well.
Speed tests give me usually 90 Mbps, 10 Mbps, and 20ms ping.
Via WiFi, that's pretty **bleep** good.

at the moment mostly i shutdown the system. but when i put it in sleep mode and start it back, if internet has problem I disconnect and reconnect the wifi and that sometimes helps

Thank you very much for the solution and easy to follow directions!

I was indeed using the Killer driver that came with the laptop.

I have installed the new driver and all is working fine.

I will come back and update if anything goes wrong again.

Did you try to disable your network adapter and reenable it?
