No sound when headphone jack is inserted in socket. The problem started recently. I checked the headphones and they are working....so it's something to do with the socket on the laptop.

To help you troubleshoot no sound issue from the laptop, please follow the steps mentioned below:
    - Open the Playing Audio troubleshooter by clicking the Start button and click on ‘Control Panel’.
    - In the search box, type troubleshooter, and then click ‘Troubleshooting’.
    - Under ‘Hardware and Sound’, click ‘Troubleshoot audio playback’.
    - If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the user password or provide confirmation and the automatic troubleshooting tool will start to diagnose the issue.

If issue persists, please find the link given below for further troubleshooting and follow the instructions:

Thanks Guru-Aid. I have done the troubleshooting and the system says everything is ok with the hardware. Bust still can't get any sound through the headphones. When I plug in the headphones sound continues to come through the audio speakers on the laptop
