Hello all,

This is what it looks like when the bottom cover of my Acer Predator G9-591-70XR (Intel Core i7 6700HQ (2.60 GHz) 16 GB DDR4 1 TB HDD 256 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M 4 GB 15.6" Full HD 1920 x 1080 HD Webcam Windows 10 Home 64-Bit). I want to upgrade my RAM and SSD drive. I chatted with acer predator support agent a couple of days ago to buy the correct RAM for my machine but the agent was not able to give satisfying answers for the RAM that I want to buy. This is the RAM I would like to buy(http://www.gskill.com/en/product/f4-2133c15d-16grs). Agent told me that I need a RAM with 1.5 Voltage value. However this machine has DDR4 RAMs and as far as I know DDR4s have 1.2 Voltage value. So my first question is if I buy a RAM with CAS Latency of 15-15-15-36, 1.2 V, 2133 mHz in dual channel configuration, will it work with my computer?

My second question is about the M.2 SSD. As you will see in the picture, there is already an SSD installed (above the HDD), inherently Smiley Happy I can see another slot above which I think is a mini PCI-express. However that slot is not in line with the other SSD slot. It is a little to the right. If I buy a similar or shorter M.2 SSD card, where will I screw it? There seems to be an empty screw hole on the left side but the SSD will not reach out there. So is there an adapter for it? If yes where can I find one?

Thanks for your time to read this. I hope someone has the answers. Wish you all the best.

    Hi,

I'm not specialist for Ram at all. I just went to the shop and asked the guy for a fast DDR4 Ram. But as you can see also the delivered Ram has 1,2V. Maybe this value they're talking about is different.?

Works fine since I bought the faster Kingston. I just wonder why the device is shipped with the slower Ram if it does more?

The only thing I can think of is that they wanted to reduce the costs. Smiley Happy Thanks for the reply by the way. Do you have any idea how to install the second M.2 SSD?

    Thanks.

I'm professionally doing support for storage devices and I should be punished for how I did it. But it works and it's save (only for my opinion). I don't like the mechanisms of the backdoor to this storage and ram section. So I cannot present a foto.

There is a special matirial used to plug chips with pins in, while reparing. It's a kind of sponge in black. I've cut two peaces with 5mm or so. I placed the first SSD and took one of it to the side of the ssd, so that it can help to keep a distance between the next SSD. The next SSD is a kind of locked if pressed in the correct postion. Now I take the second sponge (you can take every material which does not let power throught) and I adjust the second one. Now I fix all with a litte bit tape. It's rock solid and I saved this 30-60 € for the right bezel.

But maybe you better buy the bezel?

Thank you very much for all your help but due to all my research in this I have not been able to find the bezel that you are referring to. Do you have any ideas where I can find one?

    Thanks.

Thanks a bunch. I have not found a picture of it yet and don't know what it looks like but as soon as I obtain an image I will share it here.

    Cheers.
