I have an Acer Aspire 4830T laptop.  Is it possible to upgrade my memory to 16gB of Ram?

Will Crucial the 16GB Kit (8GBx2) DDR3-1600 MT/s (PC3-12800) 204-Pin SODIMM Notebook Memory CT2KIT102464BF160B / CT2CP102464BF160B work for my computer?

When I use the crucial online compatibility tool, it says 4gB RAM cards are the best I can do? Is this true? The 8gB ram appears to have all of the same specs. What am I missing?

If not, what is the best I can do to upgrade my computer memory?

    Yes, the max is 8GB.

This may be a little late for the original poster, but in case anyone else has this question.

My 4830T seems to recognize and use 16GB (2 x 8GB) perfectly in BOTH windows 7 (SP1), AND Windows 10.

So although the 4830T has an official max of 8GB, anecdotally, it can handle 16B.

I have used these specific G.Skill and Kingston HyperX modules (to be clear, I did not mix the module brands).

    Note, in both cases, these were DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) CAS 9

    This means:

     - low voltage, 1.35V (rather than regular DDR3, which is 1.5V)

     - DDR3L 1600 is technically overkill in terms of speed/frequency, but it's ok, these modules can operate at 667 MHz (DDR3/L 1333), which the 4830T uses.

    - low latency (CAS 9 @ 800 MHz (CAS 8 @ 667 MHz) as opposed to the more economic CAS 11 @ 800 MHz)

I mention this info for completeness, but I do not know if these factors are important for getting the 16GB to work. Different specs may or may not work.  I do however, recommend the low-voltage option for reduced heat production and (slightly) increased battery life.

With 16GB RAM and a good SSD, the 4830T is a solid everyday computer.
