Looks like I'm not the only one with this problem.

It's not specifically a Windows 10 problem and it's not a hardware problem, but the hardware forums say to post any sort of upgrade issue with Win10 here.

I had problems installing Win10. Was advised by Microsoft support to refresh my system. Now I've lost the pre-installed apps from my laptop that I would have to buy a license for to reinstall on my own. In particular, for me: Foxit PhantomPDF, CyberLink PhotoDirector 3 and CyberLink PowerDirector 10.

Is there any way to reinstall these since, apparently, I paid for them when I paid for my laptop? Is Acer leaving me hanging in the breeze here?

Hey I had the same problem with my acer aspire V17.

Dolby Digital Plus didn't work anymore so I reinstalled the audio drivers and all of a sudden DDP disappeared!

I did a lot of searching around on this forum and on the internet and I found nothing.

Luckily, I found the solution by myself today!

So here's what you have to do:

    1. Go to acer.com and click support.

    2. Then go to Drivers and Manuals.

    3. Use the lists there to select your laptop and select it.

    4. This should show you a list of drivers and updates and stuff on the bottom of the page.

    5. Now what you wanna do there is locate the Realtek audio driver and download it.

    6. Once that's downloaded open it with any .zip unpacking program and locate the folder named "DS1".

    7. In there open either folder "x64" or "x86" (I used the x64 one for I guess 64-bit? I have no idea what the x86 means though) and in there you should find the installer for DDP!

Just run it and it should reinstall DDP on your laptop! Smiley Very Happy

    Hope this helps!

PS. Now I'm off to find a fix for my broken HD Webcam that came built in this laptop... Smiley Frustrated

x86 is the standard nomenclature for the Intel architecture processors, referring to the original 8086 chip that was replaced by the 80286, 80386, 80486, etc.. They changed the names to Pentium, Celeron, Core Duo and the like, but they are still grouped as x86 chips. When AMD released their first 64 bit processor, they called it x64 and beat Intel to the punch.

I hate to say this, but once you do a reset you lose it all. But you did have the option to keep your personal files if chose to. Did you? If not then you lose all the apps you had on the laptop, the only apps that will be restored are the ones that are pre installed on the Laptop. Doing a SYS backup would alow you to get the apps back, did you do a back up before you did the reset? Hope this helps.
